Maktec/Makita & The Home Handyman magazine 'Make a kitchen gadget' competition
The 2014 Maktec/Makita and The Home Handyman magazine ‘Make a kitchen gadget’ competition was well supported with some well-designed, creative and professionally executed entries.
Readers were invited to design and construct a useful kitchen gadget for the 2014 Maktec/Makita ‘Make a kitchen gadget’ competition. It had to be functional, but there was no restriction on creativity. The gadget could be made from any type of wood, man-made board and/or metal.
Each gadget was judged in two categories – Innovation and Craftsmanship – with three prizes in each category. Innovation took into account the originality and creativity of the gadget, while Craftsmanship looked at the quality of craftsmanship, joinery and the overall finish.
Here’s a look at this year’s winners as well as all the other entries.
Innovation

Third place: André Gous

Craftsmanship

In both categories, two highly commended prizes were awarded which went to:
